Don’t Drive Distracted Campaign
Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership is participating in a regional campaign that asks young people to think about the consequences of driving whilst distracted.
'Don't Drive Distracted' is running throughout September and aims to raise awareness with young people about the dangers of using mobile phones whilst driving, changing tracks on their i-pods or mp3 players, being distracted by passengers in the car or 'egged-on' to speed or take unnecessary risks.

The campaign illustrates how losing concentration on the road for even a second could result in fatal consequences. Young drivers are being encouraged to think about what could happen and being offered the following tips:
- As soon as you find yourself becoming distracted then retrain your focus on the road.
- Ask your friends and passengers to take control of the stereo, change CD's, choose tracks from i-pods.
- However tempting, wait until you are parked safely before you read text messages or make calls on mobile phones.
- Don't be distracted by friends or passengers who 'egg you on' to speed or drive irrationally, have self confidence to ask them to stop.
The campaign covers the whole of Staffordshire and the City of Stoke-on-Trent with radio advertising, billboards, poster sites and promotion at Fresher Fayres.
