Ride it Right
Road traffic incident statistics amongst motorcyclists have been analysed to enable the Road Safety Unit to provide a strategy to reduce the number of casualties. The results have highlighted a number of routes in Staffordshire that have seen a high number of deaths or injuries to motorcyclists. Staffordshire County Council's Road Safety Unit has launched the 'Ride it Right' campaign targeted at all road users to highlight the stretches of road where motorcyclists are most vulnerable, based on recent data.
The high priority routes for 2012 are:
-
A34 Newcatle to Kidsgrove
-
A53 Newcastle to Loggerheads
-
A500 Clayton to Bathomley
-
A460 Rugeley to Wolverhampton
-
A51 Rugeley to Tamworth
-
A518 Stafford to Uttoxeter
-
A52 Werrington to Mayfield
-
A520 Leek to Stone

Signs have been positioned along the highway to raise awareness of the routes and the danger posed to motorcyclists. Drip mats can be seen in pubs along the routes and leaflets are available, both along the route and in other outlets throughout the county, providing information on the 'Ride it Right' campaign.
